Open-Field Farming
Meryem Women’s Cooperative has started open-field farming
in October 2020. Our 58 decares of field is located in Saricam district in
Adana. We are cultivating seasonal vegetables such as, white and red cabbage,
bok choy, broccoli, cauliflower, green and red leaf lettuce, iceberg lettuce,
turnip radish, friseé and broad beans in 30 decares. We have also planted
spinach on 20 decares. There are gutter connected greenhouses on 3 decares and
2 decares of peppergrass and arugula. The rest of the field is used as a living
area, and for other needs. Meryem Women’s Cooperative has been built with great
effort, we’ve planted seeds of success in every step. Now we are harvesting a
success story. Meryem Women’s Cooperative has proved how unity can produce
great achievement.
