Meryem Women’s Cooperative grows cultivated mushrooms.
When people think of mushrooms they are usually talking about the cap and stem
appearing over the soil. However mushrooms have a network of mycelium underground.
Mushrooms are rich in protein, vitamins and minerals.
We have created an isolated indoor workshop with thermal insulation. Cultivated mushrooms are
grown in a sun proof, well-isolated greenhouse. The temperature in the mushroom
workshop is between 16 and 23 Celsius. The humidity is also an important
component. Mushrooms need humidity to grow. It is crucial to have about %80 to
%90 humidity rate within the greenhouse. Mushrooms should not be exposed to
direct sunlight while growing. The area where the heat and humidity is
concentrated should in addition have an adequate ventilation system.
